Chinese cupping Therapy

Cupping

Chinese Cupping therapy has been around for almost two thousand years. It has been documented to be used in the Imperial court in China as early as 281 AD. There is also evidence of cupping used in ancient Eygpt and Greece.

A simple treatment where bamboo or glass cups are fixed to the surface of body by creating a vacuum. Traditionally a flame is used to create this vacuum but is safe and effective.

The cups are then left in place to draw the blood and  fluids to the surface and expel wind and pathogens from the tissue. In some instances slide cupping is also used. The objective is to alleviate stasis of blood and fluid to relieve pain. Or to assist clearing dampness from the lungs or tissue.

When applied the cups can leave circular coloured marks on the treated area, these should disappear after 5-10 days.
